We have three key words/phrases which summarise our aims as a group of God’s people
ENCOUNTER
We want people to have a real encounter with God and enable others to do so too. To meet Him by His Spirit, through His Word and through fellowship with His people.
KNOWN
We want to be known in the community for our love and service, for our kindness, hospitality and generosity.
TAKE YOUR PLACE
We want people to take their God given place in their families, workplace, community, and in the church. To be all that God has called them to be and fulfil their calling in every area of life.
Hackney is a place of real diversity in terms of ethnicity, wealth and social status. Recent ‘gentrification’ has meant that it is no longer classed as being one of the most deprived areas in the UK, according to national statistics. However, it’s a still a place of real poverty for many thousands and we want to make a difference in their lives. At the same time we see a type of poverty among the rich too, a poverty of relationship, of meaning and of joy. A gap that only Jesus can fill. Whilst Hackney is often a divided community between rich and poor, we want to be a church where everybody worships and does life together whatever their background, education or social status. Where everybody is loved, respected and given an equal opportunity and voice.
Whether rich or poor, it is our aim to bring the love of God in word and deed. Over the next couple of years we would love to see the development of initiatives that see this brought into reality. If you would like to get involved then come and join us for one of our gatherings to hear some more about how you can make a difference.
